Usability
|
What is Usability? The Webster's dictionary defines usability as something that is "convenient and practicable for use". It goes on to say that it pertains to the relationship between a tool and its user. For a tool to be effective, it must allow its user to accomplish their task in an efficient manner. These principles must be applied to the design, development, optimization and marketing of your website.
What makes a website usable?Website usability is determined by how well the functionality fits user needs, how well the website flows, and how well the website fits the users expectations. By implementing design principles and design guidelines, a highly usable system can be achieved.
Why is usability important? From your customer's perspective, website usability will ultimately determine if a sale is made or the customer simply moves on to another site. As the saying goes, "You only get one chance to make a first impression". Careful layout, a good flow between products and services and a process that easily directs your customers to a sale is the goal of usability.
We at Grimnes & Associates are constantly thinking about usability. We include this service with every website we design or evaluate. We will provide you with the feedback needed to improve the flow and functionality of your website. | |
